ABOUT US
Dental hygienists help patients maintain healthy teeth and gums. We encourage the prevention of disease and tooth loss.

We also educate patients and caregivers on ways to improve and maintain good oral health, suggest techniques and products specific to our patients' needs, and truly care about those we serve.
WHAT WE DO
MEMBER

In May 2016, Governor Herbert signed into law SB177 allowing dental hygienists in Utah to practice in public health setting under a collaborative agreement with a dentist. Since then, hygienists from across the state have started providing care to underserved populations, giving better access to oral healthcare. Public health settings include:
  • Nursing homes
  • Assisted living
  • Long-term care
  • Community health centers
  • Homebound
  • School based oral health programs
  • Mobile dental clinics that employ a dentist

We continue to advocate for underserved populations to have better access to oral healthcare. Oral healthcare should be available to everyone.
Dental hygienists are licensed dental professionals who care about providing the highest qualty of oral heathcare to individuals, communities, and those who need it most.

We have traditionally worked in a dental office, but with recent changes in Utah law , dental hygienists will also be providing care in assisted living, nursing homes, long-term care and for the homebound. Many underserved populations will now have better access to oral care through a dental hygienist.
